Phase I of the MES Playground is Complete!

This just in from Mr. Parsons...

MES is happy to announce that we have completed Phase 1 of our playground renovation project.  For the past 3 years our school has organized fundraising efforts to improve our outdoor playground equipment.  So far we have raised over $25,000 dollars through all of our fundraising efforts that include, Dig to Play, Skate to Play, Run to Play and Swing to Play and Read to Play events.

We have used $8,000 of money raised at our school to purchase a slightly used piece of equipment for installation. This playground equipment is designed to accommodate 78 children from ages 5 to 12 as they play. It also meets ADA accessibility Guidelines. The equipment contains rock block walls, slides, bridges, a zipper bridge and cabana roofed towers. FCPS provided funding for the installation and we have located this new equipment within our fenced area between the blacktop and the football stadium.  As this new equipment has been installed we have removed most of our old pieces of equipment, with anticipation of another piece of playground equipment being installed in the future as funding becomes available for this project.  Hopefully over the summer!

This is a welcomed update to our building and is due to our fundraising efforts and hard work of our committee members.  The first day for us to use this was on Friday, April 26!!!!

Remember that our next fundraising effort, "Run to Play" will be held on Saturday May 11th at the Middletown Community Park.  The 5K run begins at 8:30 AM, and the 1K walk at 9:30 AM.  The cost is $18 before May 3rd to register. You can find more information on our playground fundraising site.
